NDSU distance runner Elliott Stone has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America first team in Division I men’s track and field and cross country for the second straight year, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced June 27.

Stone, who is from Bismarck, North Dakota, owns a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average with a major in mechanical engineering. He completed his senior season of cross country and his junior seasons of indoor and outdoor track in the 2018-19 academic year.

Stone, a seven-time Summit League Academic All-League honoree, is a member of the NDSU engineering and computer science team that has competed at NASA’s Robotic Mining Competition.

This is the third straight year the Bison men’s track and field team has had a first-team Academic All-American, with Matti Mortimore claiming the honor in 2017 and Stone in 2018.

NDSU had four men’s athletes named Academic All-America for the 2018-19 school year – Greg Menard (football), Easton Stick (football), Jayse McLean (baseball) and Stone.
