Michael Strand, department head of NDSU Visual Arts, was invited to create a solo exhibition at the Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney, Neb. The exhibit, “Mantra,” will be on display until July 2.
The exhibit is a creation of work that exists as a record of time. Strand makes his own marks in the surface of the objects produced, to mark time and record decisions and intuitive responses to the materials. The exhibit is influenced by work ranging from the mystery of faith to references of diagrammatical drawing, Japanese architecture and the minimalist movement.
