The North Dakota State University Graduate School will host an Information Fair on Thursday, Nov. 5, to educate people about the benefits of graduate education and options for student financing. Representatives from more than 20 NDSU graduate programs will share information and answer questions in the Memorial Union Great Room from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Presentations with additional information also will be offered every hour in the Memorial Union Prairie Room.

David Wittrock, dean of the Graduate School and Interdisciplinary Studies, will present "Trends in Graduate Education" at 10 a.m. He will talk about the tremendous growth in NDSU Graduate School student enrollment during the past decade.

Charlene Wolf-Hall, assistant dean of the Graduate School and Interdisciplinary Studies, will present "Why Should I Attend Graduate School?" at 11 a.m. She will talk about how the number of master's degrees awarded in the U.S. has increased more than 43 percent in the past 10 years. Wolf-Hall says an advanced degree may help professionals hone their skills, develop new competencies, change careers and advance in their current profession.

A graduate student panel question and answer session is planned for noon. Students also will provide information about joining the Graduate Student Association.

Tara Thoreson, NDSU Student Financial Services, and Janis Bork, from the NDSU Graduate School, will present "Funding Graduate School" at 1 p.m. Bork will discuss opportunities for assistantships and tuition waivers and Thoreson will share information regarding additional financing options.
