NDSU dean receives Alumni Achievement Award at Iowa State University

Margaret A. Fitzgerald, dean of the NDSU College of Human Sciences and Education, has been honored with the Alumni Achievement Award from the Iowa State University College of Human Sciences. Fitzgerald earned her doctorate in human development and family studies from Iowa State in 1997.

She was presented with the award at the Iowa State University Honors and Awards Ceremony on Oct. 25, in the Scheman Building in the Iowa State Center in Ames.

Since joining the NDSU faculty in 1988, Fitzgerald has held the positions of associate dean and head of the Department of Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences. She was named dean in 2016. She was cited during the awards ceremony as a trusted and respected leader who is invested in the people she leads.

Fitzgerald is a member of both the board and the cabinet of the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance. In this position, she helps students advance their career opportunities.
