NDSU dietetics: ‘We have amazing faculty here’

SHARE

NDSU’s dietetics program has a longstanding reputation for excellence. Since 1925, NDSU has educated dietitians who are nationally known in the profession and leaders in professional organizations.

There are two undergraduate dietetics options at NDSU: the Dietitian Education Program and the Didactic Program in Dietetics.

“The dietetics program at NDSU stood out to me because of the amazing faculty here,” said Brendon Nerpel, a senior from Dunseith, North Dakota. “Every faculty member wants to see nothing but success from each student, and they go above and beyond to help us achieve our goals.”

Students learn in modern, state-of-the-art facilities. The Nutrition Laboratory is equipped with molecular biology, biochemical and tissue culture instrumentation, while the Food Production Management Laboratory is where students operate their own restaurant, called 800 Café.

The NDSU dietetics programs also include practicum experiences where students work with registered dietitian nutritionists in real-world situations.

“My favorite aspect of our program is how everybody knows everybody – It has a family atmosphere. I also like how passionate we all are about the dietetics field. That helps keep me accountable and on track,” said Nerpel, who transferred to NDSU after attending two other schools. “Once I started at NDSU, it felt like home to me and I knew this is where I wanted to be.”
