Career and Advising Center helps students find work, internships

SHARE

The Career and Advising Center’s goal is to empower and support NDSU students to achieve their academic and career goals. Students can utilize the center’s resources to help find internship opportunities, part-time jobs or full-time careers through virtual appointments.

Career coaching and academic advising

All coaching and advising is by telephone or video call. COVID-19’s impact on the economy has and will continue to create opportunities in some sectors and unfavorable conditions in others. With this in mind, our academic advising and career coaching teams are preparing students for what that means in their selected majors, exploratory areas and job search strategies. NDSU’s career coaches help students find opportunities that will develop or compliment their skills.

Internships and employer engagement

NDSU’s internship program is accepting remote or virtual internship experiences. Where possible, the internship team also is helping employers convert typical internships to virtual or remote experiences. Businesses at the NDSU Research and Technology Park’s Incubator are hiring students (part-time, full-time, and internships); NDSU’s Career and Advising Center has been advising students to check with those businesses and other startups within the community.

Careerlink

The Career and Advising Center connects students to employers via CAREERLINK, a career management system that holds a student’s electronic portfolio. Careerlink houses a wide array of opportunities: part-time, full-time, seasonal/temporary (summer), internships and volunteer.

Careerlink offers events and job search resources about how to job search virtually and how to negotiate an offer. It also provides mock interviews for students. Other resources include videos that highlight potential employers and provide career advice.
