The NDSU women’s track and field team claimed five spots on the Summit League Academic All-League team announced May 21 for the 2020 outdoor season.

Bison seniors Shelby Gunnells, Paige Harris and Annika Rotvold, junior Amanda Anderson and sophomore Kelby Anderson all earned the honor by virtue of their academic performance and career athletic achievements.

Gunnells, from Solon, Iowa, has a 4.0 cumulative GPA as a geology major. She was named the 2020 Summit League Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, winning the conference title in the shot put and taking third place in the weight throw. Gunnells was an NCAA Indoor Championships qualifier in the shot put, ranked eighth in the NCAA.

Harris, from Plentywood, Montana, is a biological sciences major with a 4.0 cumulative GPA. She won the 2019 Summit League title in the 400-meter hurdles, and finished fourth at the Summit League Indoor Championships in the 400 dash the past two seasons.

Rotvold, from Hillsboro, North Dakota, is an NCAA West Preliminary Rounds qualifier in the 1,500 and a past Summit League place-winner in six events. She has a 3.90 GPA as a biological sciences major.

Amanda Anderson, from Bethel, Minnesota, is a physical education major with a 4.0 GPA. She was the 2019 Summit League champion and an NCAA West Prelims qualifier in the discus, ranking second in school history as a sophomore.

Kelby Anderson, from Bismarck, North Dakota, is a nursing major with a 3.83 cumulative GPA. She swept Summit League indoor titles in the mile, 3,000 and 5,000 this year, to earn Most Outstanding Performer honors. Anderson is also the reigning conference champion in the outdoor 1,500 and 10,000.

To be eligible for The Summit League Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 and completed at least one full academic year at the current institution. Due to the cancellation of the 2020 outdoor track and field season, selections were made based on career athletic accomplishments.
