The NDSU women’s track and field team and six individual student-athletes were honored by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as All-Academic performers for the 2020 indoor season, the organization announced July 16.

As a team, the Bison women earned their 15th straight USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, easily surpassing the minimum required cumulative GPA of 3.0. NDSU registered a cumulative team GPA of 3.605 for the 2020 season.

Kelby Anderson, Bailey Cowling, Shelby Gunnells, Amy Herrington, Maddy Nilles and Maggie Schwarzkopf claimed the All-Academic individual recognition for NDSU. Gunnells and Nilles were both honored for the fifth consecutive year, and Herrington and Schwarzkopf earned the recognition for the third time.

To qualify for the All-Academic Track and Field Team in 2020, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or the national top 48 in a relay event on the official NCAA performance list.

The Bison set an all-time program record with a 3.70 team grade point average for the spring 2020 semester.
