There is plenty for NDSU students to do in Fargo-Moorhead during Labor Day weekend.

Students who stay in Fargo-Moorhead for Labor Day weekend have plenty of opportunities for entertainment and relaxation. Fargo-Moorhead is often listed among the best college towns and best places to live in the country and there is plenty to see and do.

Long weekends are a great time for NDSU students to enjoy the beauty of the community and try new things.

Here are some activities to enjoy in Fargo-Moorhead this Labor Day weekend:

Rent a kayak to take a trip down the Red River.

Kayak on the Red River

There are two places in Fargo-Moorhead to rent canoes or kayaks for an afternoon on the Red River. Rent a kayak at Lindenwood Park in Fargo for just $10 per hour. Rentals are available Monday-Friday from 4-8 p.m. and both Saturday and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.

Browse the Red River Market

The Red River Market is a local favorite in downtown Fargo on Saturdays. Stock up on produce or find locally-made goods and crafts. Bring a friend and strike a pose in the photo booth, enjoy art demos, live music and local food.

Hike at Buffalo River State Park

Buffalo River State Park keeps its hiking trails open in the fall. The scenery during this time of year is extraordinary. Leaves are bright brown, orange and yellow and you can hear the rush of the Buffalo River as you make your way around River View trail. Prairie View Trail, a 2.2-mile loop near the edge of the park, has terrific views of wildlife and is one of Minnesota’s largest prairie preserves.

Picnic in Island Park

Pick up some fresh produce from the Red River Market or grab your favorite food to-go and have a picnic with friends in downtown Fargo’s Island Park.

Game Night in the Memorial Union

Stop by the lower level of the Union on Friday, Sept. 4, from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. for fun, games and prizes. Card games, board games, game show card decks, and the Nintendo Switch guarantees an enjoyable night for everyone who attends. The event is sponsored by the Campus Live Committee.

Discover Fargo-Moorhead’s Murals

Fargo-Moorhead is filled with beautiful murals from local artists. Hop in your car and see if you can find them all. Follow this map to find each one. Take photos with friends to cherish forever.

Rent a bike to take a ride through Lindenwood Park and around Fargo-Moorhead.

Bike through Lindenwood Park
