The NDSU men’s cross country team claimed three of the six spots on the Summit League Academic All-League team announced March 31 by the conference.

Alex Bartholomay, Zach Johnson and Josh Samyn earned the recognition by virtue of their academic records and performance at the 2020-21 Summit League Cross Country Championships.

Bartholomay, from Bowman, North Dakota, has a 3.57 cumulative grade-point average working toward his Master of Accountancy degree. He was NDSU’s top finisher at the conference cross country meet, taking fifth place overall.

Johnson, from Moorhead, Minnesota, is a statistics major with a 3.94 cumulative GPA. He was the top-finishing freshman at the Summit League Championships, placing ninth.

Samyn, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, carries a 3.92 GPA as a biological sciences major. The runner finished 16th overall at the league meet.

To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30, completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team’s competitions.
