SHARE

The President’s Council for Diversity, Inclusion and Respect Awareness, and Recognition of Best Practices work group are accepting nominations for the Advancing Inclusion Award. The deadline for submissions is noon on Friday, Sept. 10.

The award is given annually to an NDSU department, committee, group or unit that has worked collaboratively to promote an inclusive culture by enhancing or contributing to the overall environment of the community or university.

All NDSU departments, committees, groups, units, etc. are eligible for this nomination. Nominations may be made by any NDSU student, staff, faculty or administrator.

A nomination form can be accessed online or requested from Julie Nash at julie.nash@ndsu.edu. Nominations will be reviewed by members of the President’s Council for Diversity, Inclusion and Respect Awareness, and Recognition of Best Practices work group. The award winner will be recognized at the Inclusion Fair in the fall.

The recipients will be assessed on ways in which they demonstrate one or more of the following:

  • Commitment to the spirit of inclusion.
  • Leadership through positive and collaborative interaction among all persons across a diversity of identities and backgrounds.
  • Behavior that illustrates commitment to a culture of belonging and inclusion of all, particularly attuned to the experience/reality of those who are members of traditionally underrepresented groups.

First awarded in 2007 as the Diversity Impact Award, the purpose is to recognize NDSU departments, committees, groups and units that have made a significant contribution to advancing inclusive culture.
