Hallie Pritchett will serve as interim dean of libraries, Provost Margaret Fitzgerald announced July 21. Pritchett came to NDSU in August 2018 as associate dean of libraries for research and learning.

“Having served as associate dean of the NDSU Libraries, Interim Dean Pritchett has a great deal of experience with library operations and project management. She is a strong advocate for the libraries and is familiar with both traditional functions and new initiatives,” Fitzgerald said. “I look forward to working with her in this role.”

“I am honored to serve as interim dean of libraries and excited to lead such a tremendously talented and dedicated staff,” Pritchett said. “In the coming weeks we will be launching a new libraries website and opening our new Data Visualization Lab in the Main Library as we prepare to welcome students back to campus. This promises to be a busy and productive fall for the libraries – on behalf of the staff, we look forward to working with the NDSU community.”

Pritchett previously worked 11 years at the University of Georgia Libraries, most recently as head of the Map and Government Information Library.

She has served as chair of the American Library Association’s Government Documents Round Table. She is a past chair of the American Library Association’s Map and Geospatial Information Round Table and a past chair of the Depository Library Council, which advises the director of the Government Publishing Office and the superintendent of documents on matters related to the Federal Depository Library Program.

Pritchett earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois, Master of Internet Technology from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business and post-baccalaureate certificate in Geographic Information Systems from the University of West Georgia.

The search for the permanent dean of libraries is expected to get underway later this summer.
