Somnath Banerjee, NDSU assistant professor of marketing, was recently featured in an online WalletHub story. Banerjee was one of 16 experts from across the country quoted in the story, “Best Credit Cards for Restaurants,” By John Kiernan, credit card editor.

Banerjee responded to questions such as:

• Should restaurant rewards be something people prioritize when shopping for a credit card?

• Do people need to worry about security when paying with a credit card at a restaurant?

“In general, reward points for travel, gas, groceries and restaurants are some of the popular categories of rewards people consider when choosing a credit card as household expenditures in these categories tend to be the highest,” Banerjee said in the article. “In this regard, restaurant rewards would be something that people who dine out often or have multiple credit cards can consider since their propensity to use restaurants would lead them to have higher savings with such credit cards.”

Banerjee’s research interests are in sales management, sales incentives, sales-marketing interface, online marketing, competitive marketing strategy and quantitative marketing.

He earned his bachelor’s degree at Patna University, India; Master of Business Administration from the International Management Institute, India; and doctorate at the University of Central Florida.
