NDSU students will have an enhanced learning experience thanks to Gate City Bank’s $500,000 gift to the NDSU Development Foundation. The gift was for the renovation of a 1960s-era auditorium and an endowment for ongoing maintenance.

The dedication of the Gate City Bank Auditorium is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 20, at 2:30 p.m. Students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to attend.

“Gate City Bank’s generous donation and its impact on the student learning environment is something to broadly recognize and celebrate,” said NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani. “The auditorium is the largest and most used on the campus, so the renovation will affect the education of virtually every student at NDSU.”

Improvements include new seats and carpet, easier access for people with disabilities and updated educational technology.

“This extensive renovation, including state-of-the-art technology, will have a large impact on students’ educational experience for many years to come,” said Gate City Bank Chairman, President and CEO Steve Swiontek. “This gift is another example of the importance Gate City Bank places on giving back to the communities we serve.”

Swiontek, President Bresciani and NDSU Development Foundation President Jonal Uglem will be speakers at the dedication.

“We deeply appreciate Gate City Bank’s support,” said Jim Miller, executive director of the NDSU Development Foundation. “They came forward to not only meet an immediate need but to ensure we will have the funds to update the facility as needed in the future.”

Refreshments will be served following the dedication.

The Gate City Bank Auditorium is located at the corner of Centennial Boulevard and Bolley Drive on the NDSU campus. Parking is available in visitors lot E off Albrecht Boulevard.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
