The NDSU Bookstore will celebrate National Student Day Oct. 4. The day, introduced by the National Association of College Stores, celebrates college students across the U.S. and Canada and promotes social responsibility among students.

In honor of the day, the bookstore is hosting a “Feed the Herd” food drive, which began Sept. 27. Students will receive a National Student Day wristband for one or two food donation items and a T-shirt for three to five items. Monetary donations also are accepted. The food items will be given to the Fargo-Moorhead Food Pantry.

In addition, students who work with the Volunteer Network will be eligible to win prizes for their volunteer hours. Students will receive one entry in a prize drawing for each hour volunteered.

Also Oct. 4, cotton candy will be given away at the NDSU Bookstore in the Memorial Union, while supplies last, starting at 1 p.m.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
