Head women’s volleyball coach Kari Thompson announced the hiring of former West Virginia and Alabama assistant Kevin Dunn to round out her staff for the 2013 season.

Dunn, an assistant coach for Washington University in St. Louis this past season, will assist in all areas of the NDSU program including offensive systems and setter training and development. “Kevin brings a wealth of experience to NDSU along with some new ideas and a different perspective,” Thompson said. “With a great work ethic and a strong passion for volleyball, he will have an immediate positive impact within the program.”

Dunn spent the 2011 season at West Virginia after two years at Alabama, where he was a volunteer assistant in 2009 and assistant coach in 2010. He broke into coaching as a student assistant at Lindenwood University from 2003-2007 and was a graduate assistant at Southern Arkansas in 2008. Dunn was a setter and blocking specialist during his playing days at Lindenwood. He captained the 2006 team that was ranked No. 1 nationally and helped the Lions advance to two NAIA national semifinals and two national championship matches.

A four-time academic all-conference honoree, Dunn earned a bachelor’s degree in history and business administration from Lindenwood in May 2008.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
