Greg Lardy, head of the animal sciences department, was installed as president of the American Society of Animal Sciences at the organization’s national meeting this month in Indianapolis.
With more than 6,000 members, the society is the premiere organization for animal science professionals, spanning government, industry and academic careers, worldwide.
In his role as president, Lardy will represent the society at a variety of regional, national and international meetings, work with other societies in the sciences and agriculture, and implement the society’s strategic plan.
“I am honored to have been elected to serve the American Society of Animal Science in this capacity,” Lardy said. “The society has a number of exciting opportunities before it, and I’m looking forward to the upcoming year.”
After completing his one-year term as president, Lardy will serve one year as past president. He previously served the society as Midwest section director from 2008-11 and program chair for the American Dairy Science Association and American Society of Animal Sciences joint annual meeting in 2010.
Lardy has been a professor of animal sciences since 2009. He was a state beef cattle specialist from 1997-2009.
