Former NDSU golfer Amy Anderson has been chosen as The Summit League’s candidate for NCAA Woman of the Year award.

The NCAA established the award in 1991 to celebrate the achievements of women in intercollegiate athletics. In its 23rd year, the award recognizes athletics achievements, academics, community service and leadership.

Each NCAA member is allowed one nomination. The field of more than 400 nominees is trimmed to one from each conference.

The Woman of the Year selection committee in August will select the top 10 in each division. The top three finalists from each division will be announced in September.

The NCAA will announce the winner and honor the top 30 nominees on Oct. 20 in Indianapolis.

Anderson was a four-time Summit League golfer of the year and two-time Capital One Academic All-America first-team selection.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation’s top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
