NDSU communicators receive honors

NDSU staff members were among the winners of the 2013 National Federation of Press Women Communications Contest announced at the annual fall conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Ellen Crawford, Agriculture Communication information specialist and National Federation of Press Women treasurer, earned first place in the reports category and third place in the news story category. Crawford’s report was the 2012 N.D. Agricultural Experiment Station/NDSU Extension Service Annual Highlights that is available at www.ndsu.edu/fileadmin/vpag/

. Her third place article was about the Extension Junior Master Gardener program.

Becky Koch, director of Agriculture Communication, received third place in the magapapers/tabloids competition. Koch’s award was for the Horticulture and Forestry Ag Mag that can be viewed at www.ag.ndsu.edu/agmag/horticulture/index.html.

Carol Renner, communications manager in the Office of the Vice President for Research, Creative Activities and Technology Transfer, received an honorable mention in the news or feature release category.

A total of 15 members of North Dakota Professional Communicators organization earned 36 awards for their work in print media, photography, advertising, writing for and development of the Web, promotion, public relations, marketing, speeches and books.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
