Direct Admit Application Information

Read all instructions prior to starting the application. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure all components of the application are completed and received by December 15.

The following items are needed to apply:

Admission to NDSU

Application to the NDSU nursing program is only accepted from a student who has been admitted to NDSU (for the term of program start) and has declared pre-nursing as their major. If you are not a current NDSU student, click button below to apply to NDSU.

Transcripts

  • Ensure unofficial transcripts from all schools attended (high school, college, PSEO-dual credit - college in the schools) are attached to your application.

Campus Selection

  • Fargo or Bismarck (Sanford Health) 

Kaplan Nursing Admissions Test (KNAT)

  • Qualified Direct Admission Applicants will take the Kaplan Nursing Admissions Test. Applicants will be notified by email with instructions to register and submit payment for the exam after the December 15 application deadline.
  • The Kaplan Nursing Admissions Test will be delivered on January 3-17, 2024.  Applicants will take the exam from their home with a virtual proctor. The exam will cost approximately $50 plus $29 for the Meazure Learning Online Proctor (price subject to change).

Virtual Interview

  • Answering two questions via an online format is a requirement of the application.
  • Plan to participate in the virtual interview 7:30 - 9:00 am on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
  • Specific times and other details/instructions will be shared at a later date.

PLEASE NOTE: A confidentiality form must be filled out and submitted prior to completing your interview responses. This form will be sent with the virtual interview directions.

Demographics/Data Collection- optional but encouraged

  • Gender

  • State of legal residency – as stated on government issued identification
  • Ethnic background
  • First language
  • TOEFL scores (if applicable)

You will receive an email receipt of submission once the application is submitted. Official communication from the School of Nursing will be sent via email.
