A second NDSU online nursing program is named one of best in nation

North Dakota State University’s blended online licensed practical nurse to bachelor’s of science in nursing program has been recognized as one of the best accredited online programs in the U.S. for 2018-19 by AffordableCollegesOnline.org.

NDSU’s blended online LPN to BSN program is listed first in the ranking of best programs. AffordableCollegesOnline.org evaluated more than 3,500 colleges and universities and based the rankings on statistical data, eligibility criteria and various ranking factors.

"In our seventh annual survey of online learning programs across the nation, we wanted to honor the colleges and universities that are providing innovative ways for students to complete a degree," said Dan Schuessler, CEO and Founder of AffordableCollegesOnline.org. "These schools are going above and beyond the industry standard to help make online education programs more accessible and affordable."

Only accredited, public, not-for-profit institutions with at least one online program were eligible for these rankings. The primary data points used to identify the best online colleges and programs for 2018 include acceptance rates, cost of tuition, number of full time students and graduation rates.

The NDSU blended online program is available to licensed practical nurses to complete their bachelor’s of science degrees to become registered nurses.

“Nurses who want to advance their careers can choose this education pathway from NDSU School of Nursing to enhance their opportunities,” said Karla Haug, assistant professor of practice who directs the online LPN to BSN program.

“Our flexible online programs provide nurses the opportunity to choose accredited educational options that fit their needs and schedules,” said Dr. Carla Gross, associate dean of NDSU’s School of Nursing and Fargo site chair.

Earlier this year, the NDSU School of Nursing’s online blended RN to BSN program was recognized as one of the best accredited online BSN programs in the country for 2018 by BestColleges.com, listed at number four in the U.S.

Blended programs provide online courses and time on site to solidify connections between students when they interact online and with faculty members to create an effective online experience.

“We use a variety of innovative educational formats in our nursing and health professions programs,” said Charles Peterson, dean of the College of Health Professions at NDSU. “This recognition of the excellent accredited nursing program at NDSU shows faculty and staff commitment to students and to meeting current and future nursing workforce needs."
