Federal Work-Study Employer Information

The Federal Work-Study Program (FWS) is a federal student aid program that provides funding to support part-time employment opportunities for eligible students.  FWS funding helps pay a percentage of the hourly wages earned.  The money students earn helps pay for educational expenses. Jobs are designed to relate to the student’s course of study and/or encourage community service work whenever possible.

To be eligible to receive a work-study award, students must:

  • Be enrolled (minimum of 6 credits);
  • Be an undergraduate.  Graduate students may be considered for an award, but, funds are limited and awards are made on a case-by-case basis.
  • Have demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic progress.

Work-Study jobs can be either on-campus or off-campus. All off-campus agencies must be approved by NDSU Financial Aid and Scholarships and be a private, non-profit organization or public agency, and the work performed must be in the public interest.

Detailed information about the program, employer processes and responsibilities, and posting a Work-Study position on the job board, is available from this web site.  For further information, contact NDSU One Stop at (701) 231-6200 or the Work-Study Coordinator at (701) 231-7535.

NDSU Part-Time Job Board Information

The NDSU Part-Time Job Board provides students with a one-stop destination for seeking employment and gives employers greater flexibility to manage job postings. It allows you to edit, delete, repost, duplicate, and mark your employment opportunities as filled.

CREATE AN ACCOUNT

Creating an account is easy!  Go the web site listed above and select the Submit Job link located on the right side of the screen. Next, select the Sign Up link located at the top right corner, fill in your employer information, and select Register.  Remember to keep track of your User Name and Password!

NOTE: As an employer, your best option is to create an account and submit a job posting from that account. You can submit it as a guest; however, submitting a job as a guest does not provide you access to go back and edit, delete, repost, duplicate, or mark your job as filled.

SUBMIT A JOB

Go to the job board and log in to your account.  Next, select the Submit Job link located on the right side of the screen. Fill in the job posting information and select Preview at the bottom of the page. At this point, you can go back and edit your job posting by selecting Edit listing or you can submit the job posting by selecting Submit Listing. All jobs are automatically set to expire after two weeks. Contact the Work-Study Coordinator if you want to change the expiration date.

NOTE: Both Work-Study and non-Work-Study students are able to view Work-Study Jobs. If your job posting is Work-Study only, please make sure to ask the student for proof of their award during the hiring process.

EDIT YOUR JOB

Go to the job board and log in to your account. Next, select My Jobs on the right side of the screen. In this area you have the option to make changes to your job listing(s). If the job is active, you can Edit, Mark filled, Duplicate, or Delete it. If the job is labeled Pending approval, it has not yet been reviewed and you will only have the option to edit or delete the listing. If the job is expired, you will only have the option to Relist or delete the listing.

To edit, hover over it, select Edit, and update the information as needed. Each time you edit a job posting, it is removed from the job board and routed back to the Work-Study Coordinator for review and approval after you submit it.

DELETE A JOB

Go to the job board and log in to your account.  Next, select My Jobs on the right side of the screen. Find the job posting you would like to delete, hover over it, and select Delete.

MARK YOUR JOB AS FILLED

Go to the job board and log in to your account.  Next, select My Jobs on the right side of the screen. You can hover over the job posting and select Mark as filled. Marking a job posting as filled is optional and cannot be done after the job posting has expired.

REPOST YOUR JOB

Go to the job board and log in to your account.  Next, select My Jobs on the right side of the screen. You can hover over the job listing you want to repost and select Relist. Update the job details as needed and select Preview at the bottom of the page. At this point, you can go back and edit your job posting by selecting Edit listing or you can submit the job posting by selecting Submit Listing.

DUPLICATE YOUR JOB

Go to the job board and log in to your account.  Next, select My Jobs on the right side of the screen. You can hover over the job listing you want to duplicate and select Duplicate. This will create a new job with the same information. Update the job details as needed and select Preview at the bottom of the page. At this point, you can go back and edit your job posting by selecting Edit listing or you can submit the job posting by selecting Submit Listing.
