Jill Motschenbacher, Ph.D.
Dr. Jill Motschenbacher joined the Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL) on May 1, 2017 as the coordinator of projects and assessments. In September of 2017, Motschenbacher took on the role of associate director. Motschenbacher will lead the Office of Teaching and Learning when OTL’s Director, Dr. Paul Kelter, is away as part of his modified contract.
Motschenbacher has been with NDSU for nearly three years and has taught in the Departments of Soil Science and English, in addition to working part-time at OTL during the last year. Motschenbacher received her Ph.D. (2012) in Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences with a focus in Soil Physics from the University of Arkansas. She also received a M.Ed. (2007) in the Administration of Higher Education and a B.S. (2006) in Agribusiness from Middle Tennessee State University. Prior to working at NDSU, Jill completed a research and extension education postdoc in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at Iowa State University and two USAID agricultural development projects in rice and maize production in Wang’uru, Kenya and Iganga, Uganda. She also served for four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Sacramento (AOE-1) as an Interior Communications Electrician. Jill has experience in working with diverse student cultures worldwide, including adult learners, New Americans, K-12 students, military veterans, at-risk youth, international students, and traditional college students. Jill resides in Moorhead with her husband, 2 year old daughter, and two cats.
