Bison Roam Free with MATBUS

NDSU students can ride any MATBUS bus FREE of charge! Simply show a current NDSU student ID card when boarding. Since all routes connect at transfer points, you can get anywhere served by MATBUS by transferring to another bus. Just ask your driver for assistance when boarding.

All It Takes Is Your Bison ID!

MATBUS implements farebox technology to more accurately count the number of its passengers.  You should use your Bison ID card when riding any MATBUS bus, including on-campus routes and the routes serving the downtown campuses.

Have your Bison ID ready when you board the bus and swipe it in the top of the bus farebox.  The bus drivers will be happy to assist you if you have any questions.

No monetary value is removed from your Bison ID when using it in the new fareboxes – all rides on MATBUS buses are free for NDSU students, faculty and staff.

Of course, our visitors and those without Bison ID cards are still welcome to ride on Routes 31, 32, 33, 34 and 35 free of charge; simply tell the bus driver you are visiting campus.
