Dr. Katherine Noone joined the faculty of the Division of Fine Arts at North Dakota State University in 2007. She is an Assistant Professor of Voice/Music Theatre, a position that serves both the music and theatre departments. In this position, she teaches Applied Classical Voice, Applied Musical Theatre Voice, Vocal Pedagogy, Development of Musical Theatre, Acting the Song, directs musical theatre troupe, and music directs the mainstage theatre department musicals each year. Dr. Noone earned her doctorate from NDSU and her B.S.E. in Vocal Music Education from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. She is also the coordinator for musical theatre at International Music Camp (IMC) and prior to NDSU, she taught at Minnesota State University Moorhead, Concordia College, and Valley City State University.

A diverse and active singer and actor as well as an educator, Dr. Noone has appeared with Act Up Theatre, Opera Omaha, Highland Summer Theatre, Fargo Moorhead Opera, Lofte Theatre, University of Nebraska’s Summer Repertory Theatre, and University of Nebraska Opera Theatre. Favorite roles include Guenevere in Camelot, Lizzie in 110 in the Shade, Agnes in I Do! I Do!, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, and Clorinda in La Cenerentola. Dr. Noone also enjoys both television and radio commercial work, having acted in regional commercials throughout the United States. She is also a classical recitalist, cabaret singer, and pop and country performer performing numerous solo and chamber gigs throughout the Midwest. She has appeared as a soloist with the Fargo Moorhead Symphony, NDSU Baroque Festival, Fargo Moorhead Chamber Chorale, the Voices of Concord and served as the principal soloist at the First Church of Christ Scientist in Fargo for 12 years. She is a Nebraska First Place NATS and ND NATSAA winner.

Recent performances include appearing as a soloist in the Queens of Country with Dakota Air, the Adult Woman in Spring Awakening, which performed at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, and a soloist with Andrew Lippa, Live in Concert, a performance in which she was accompanied by the composer himself. She also performs as Karen Carpenter in The Shadows Tribute Band.

In addition to her performance and teaching activities, Dr. Noone has an extensive background as a musical and stage director. She has directed and/or music directed over forty musicals, and is also active in NATS, serving as the District Governor and past President of ND NATS. Dr. Noone is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
