Clarinet Extravaganza Featured Guest!

Jonathan Cohen has been a featured soloist in orchestras throughout the nation, including the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, and the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra in addition to being the principal clarinetist for the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. As the winner of the 2010 Minnesota Orchestra’s Young Artists Competition, Jonathan will also perform as soloist with the orchestra in an upcoming season.

In addition to his performances across the country, Jonathan has been featured on the NPR program From the Top as part of a PBS television special with renowned mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves. Jonathan has attended the Sarasota Music Festival, the National Repertory Orchestra, the Brevard Music Center, and the Pacific Music Festival. He has also appeared as a substitute member with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra in New York City, the Virginia Symphony in Norfolk, VA, and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.

Originally born in New Orleans, Jonathan has spent significant amounts of time in Cincinnati, Interlochen, Los Angeles, and New York. His major teachers have been Steve Cohen, Nathan Williams, Anthony McGill, Mark Nuccio, and Yehuda Gilad. He holds degrees from The Manhattan School of Music and The Juilliard School.
