Varland Selected as Costume Designer for Bizet’s Carmen

Rooth VarlandJuly 25 at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts!

Rooth Varland, Associate Professor and Department Head for NDSU Theatre, has been invited to design costumes for Carmen by Georges Bizet at the Filene Center at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts outside of Washington, DC.  The production will run one night only, July 25, 2014.

Presented by the Wolf Trap Opera Company, Carmen is one of the world’s most popular operas, featuring dramatic and memorable arias including the sultry “Habanera,” the passionate “Flower Song, ” and the virile “Song of the Toreador.” With its vibrant colors and evocative images, this new  production created for Wolf Trap's beautiful outdoor amphitheater will transport audiences to Spain.
