Matt Scheerer started in North Dakota State's Division of Performing Arts in the Fall of 2021, bringing 15 years of higher education public relations and marketing experience. A West Coaster by birth, Matt has lived across North Dakota, Minnesota and Illinois over the last 10 years.

He previously served as Director of Communications at the University of North Dakota, promoting various athletic teams and telling the stories of its student-athletes. He was also a staff advisor for the Student-Athlete Inclusion & Diversity committee, helping promote the group's social justice initiatives and events.

Matt spent six years at Northern Illinois University as Assistant Director of Communications, helping promote the university's the nationally ranked football program that earned an Orange Bowl berth in 2012. He also promoted Heisman Trophy finalist Jordan Lynch, who set three NCAA records during his campaign to New York City, finishing third in the voting.

Before working at NIU, he spent two years at Portland State University where he primarily worked in video, specializing in web and social media. Matt also worked at Harvard University in the Department of Athletic Communications, promoting the largest athletic department in the country with 42 sports.

No stranger to the upper Midwest, Matt attended the University of Minnesota Crookston as a member of the football program and was a regular in school open-mic and Faculty-Student showcases. He began his education and athletic career at College of the Redwoods in Eureka, CA.

Matt was member of the Evergreen High School Band in Vancouver, WA where he played the tuba. He is the proud owner of Conn 20J tuba and Denis Wick practice mute, picking the instrument back up in 2018.
