FARGO, N.D. (Sept. 5, 2017) – On 9/2/2017 at 2:13 a.m., Fargo Police were dispatched to the Sanford ER for a patient with injuries from an assault. Our officer arrived and spoke with the victim who stated they were near the park behind the T-Lofts by NDSU. The victim stated he saw two males who he believed were responsible for another assault the night before and “called them out” in regards to the assault and they jumped him. Our officer noted the victim had several injuries to his face and the victim told him “not to worry about him” and didn’t want a report to be done.
Later that morning, the victim’s mother called our department stating their son was in surgery and was wondering what we were doing with the investigation. Our on duty supervisor reviewed the incident and advised the mother what the responding officer had noted from the earlier incident. The mother explained to our on duty supervisor the extent of her son’s injuries. The on duty supervisor sent an officer to Sanford to take the report.
Three suspects have been interviewed, and our investigations unit is following up on this case. The victim has sustained non-life threatening but serious injuries. We anticipate sending the case to the Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges in the near future.
No further information is available at this time.
