NDSU Public Health Department announces award recipients

The Public Health Department at NDSU has announced award recipients for 2022 for their contributions to public health.

Lauren Dybsand, (MPH ’17), was named Colleague of the Year. Nada Soliman (MPH ’22 and MBBCh) was named Student Leader of the Year. Omobosinuola “Bosola” Shyllon (MPH ’22) received the Student Researcher of the Year Award from the NDSU Public Health Department.

Dybsand received the colleague award because she goes above and beyond for colleagues and is extremely knowledgeable and willing to share expertise, encouragement and support for projects that often fall outside the scope of her responsibilities.

Serving as immunization education project manager for the NDSU Center for Immunization Research and Education, Dybsand promotes and advances the work of CIRE and of the NDSU Department of Public Health.

Soliman received the Student Leader of the Year award for her outstanding service to the NDSU Department of Public Health, College of Health Professions, and her community.

With a specialty in community health sciences, Soliman was instrumental in coordinating a successful COVID-19 vaccination clinic for the FM Islamic community. Soliman serves as a public health liaison with the North Dakota Department of Public Health Equity branch and the Islamic Society of Fargo Moorhead.

Recent graduate and epidemiology specialist, Omobosinuola Shyllon received the Student Researcher of the Year Award for her strong engagement in NDSU Department of Public Health’s research activities.

Shyllon’s research experiences included assessing dietary intake in a pre-diabetic population, COVID-19 and mask use among states, and the association between adverse childhood experiences and unintended pregnancy.

The NDSU Department of Public Health offers a range of degree options in graduate, dual degree, undergraduate, certificate and accelerated programs. Classes are offered both on-campus and through distance learning technology.
