Tribal Air Quality Pilot Study (Fort Berthold only)

Goal: Provide partnership with Nueta-Hidatsa-Sahnish College, (http://nhsc.edu/) promotion of student research, and provide the opportunity for continuity and further development of research capacity at Nueta-Hidatsa-Sahnish College (NHSC).

There have been significant concerns of air quality in the western half of North Dakota in regards to petroleum development.  The development has caused an increase in dust particulates and minerals in the air and has called the attention to potential increases in upper respiratory infections and related ailments.  The partnership between NHSC and NDSU INBRE is to begin investigating these concerns on the Tribal Air Quality Pilot Study.  NHSC students will be working with NDSU researchers to collect and analyze particulate matter samples. They will be analyzing the results using NDSU research labs and facilities.
