A general overview of electron energy spectroscopy in experimental studies of ion-atom collisions will be presented. In particular, we will discuss distributions of electrons observed in the forward (projectile) direction with very high resolution in energy. Such spectra are rich in information pertaining to the collision dynamics, and many of their features may be understood using a semi-classical interpretation.
