White-whiskered grasshopper

Adults

  • Foveola square to slightly rectangular.
  • Lateral carinae strongly constricted and marked with white.
  • Hind femur banded, knees black.
  • Hind tibia orange.
  • Tibial spurs (calcaria) of markedly differing lengths- 'like a turkey foot.'
Nymphs
  • Typical slantface hopper color pattern.
  • Square to rectangular lateral foveola.
  • Hind tibial calcaria of markedly differing lengths.
  • One color morph is wholely blackish-brown with a light brown dorsal surface.
  • Nymphs in Spring and early Summer.
