Striped grasshopper

Adults

  • Head with a median carina on fastigum.
  • Lateral foveola not visible from above.
  • Stripes on head run oblique to sutures.
  • Lateral carinae nearly striaght.
  • Subdorsal carnula on either side of median carina.
  • Tegmen with a white basal streak.
  • Outer face of hind femur brown on upper half, horn yellow on lower half.
    • With black bands on upper half.
  • Hind tibia blue.
Nymphs
  • Lateral carinae nearly straight
  • Head with a median carina on fastigum.
  • Stripes run oblique to sutures on head.
  • Nymphs occur in late Spring and early Summer.
  • Only similar nymph, E. simplex, occurs from late Summer to early Spring.
