- Body length > 4 cm.
- Prnotum rugose and tuberculate above.
- Pronotum with evenly diverging lateral carinae.
- Tegmina short, round.
- Lobes of hind femur of equal size. (Upper lobe larger in all other 'hoppers).
- Hind tibia with two apical calcariae (spurs) and an apical spine on outerface- all other 'hoppers lack the spine.
