Helicoverpa zea (Boddie 1850)

Common name: Corn earworm/ Bollworm/ Tomato fruitworm.

Hodges: 11068.

Identification: Rfw 18.2, hw with broad fuscous border; pro tibiae with prominent apical setae, other setae hidden in vestiture; male clasper without harpe, vesica of multiple coils armed with cornuti.

Similar species: 11063, 11064, 11072, and 11072.1.

Distribution: southern Canada to Argentina.

Hosts: a general feeder with a decided preference for Zea mays L.– corn.
