Schinia lucens (Morrison 1875)

Common name: Leadplant flower moth.

Hodges #: 11174.

Identification: Rfw 12.1 mm, fw carmine and irrorate with pale blue scales, transverse lines white, fringe of ground color and cut by white opposite veins, vf/hw with fuscous pm. and carmine st. areas, massive apical ‘claw’ on mesal side of pro-tibia.

Similar species: 11175.

Distribution: central and western U. S. and southern prairie provinces of Canada.

Hosts: Larvae feed on Amorpha canescens Pursh– Leadplant.
