Peoria approximella (Walker 1866)

Common name: listed here as ‘Carmine snout moth.’

Hodges #: 6053.

Identification: Rfw 9.8 mm, fws carmine with pale inner margin, white costal streak running to apex, irrorate with black scales; Rs veins branched, veins from lower half of discal cell unbranched; hw with M3+CuA1 stem subequal to subtended branches.

Similar species: 5746, 5748, 6028, 6048.

Distribution: southern Canada and United States, east of the Rockies.

Hosts: Unknown.
