Darapsa choerilus (Cramer 1779)

Common name: Azalea sphinx.

Hodges #: 7886.

Identification: Rfw 27.5 mm, outer margin of fw sinuate, groundcolor mottled brown.  Pro-tibiae with spine-like setae.

Similar species: 7885.

Distribution:  United States and southern Canada east of the Rockies.

Hosts: Larvae feed on Viburnum spp.

Note: Formerly widely known as Darapsa pholus.  In the picture at right, the Hodges number should be 7886.
