Hyles lineata (Fabricius 1775)

Common name: White-lined Sphinx.

Hodges #: 7894.

Identification: Rfw 33.2 mm, fw with diagonal pale stripe from inner margin to apex of uniform width, fw veins with white streaks.

Similar species: 7892, 7893.

Distribution: central Canada into Argentina, additional subspecies in the Old World.

Hosts: Larva on a wide variety of plants but preferring Solanaceae– tomato, potato, and Onagraceae– Epilobium– willow-herb/ fireweed.
