Catocala parta Guenée 1852

Common name: Mother underwing.

Hodges #: 8806.

Identification: Rfw 37 mm, fw with apical, tornal, and basal dashes, vfw virtually lacking orange or red scales, vhw with lunate discal spot.

Similar species: 8805, 8812, 8822.

Distribution: Canada and temperate United States, south to Utah in the Rockies.

Hosts: Larvae feed on Populus– Poplar and Salix– willow.
