Amphipyra pyramidoides Guenée 1852

Common name: American copper underwing.

Hodges #: 9638.

Identification: Rfw 20.6 mm, both wings glossy, hw coppery orange, lacking post-median band and black margin. All tibiae without setae.

Similar species: 9640.

Distribution: southern Canada and U. S.

Hosts: Larvae are general feeders including: Malus–apple, Crataegus– hawthorn, Ribes– raspberry, Quercus– oak, Vitus– grape, Acer– maple, and Juglans– walnut.
