September Highway Tax Funds Released
North Dakota State Treasurer Kathi Gilmore has released $69,033.44 in highway tax distribution funds for Pembina County (northeastern part of the state) for the month of September 2001. Pembina County received $50,394.41, while the cities of Pembina County received $18,639.03. The individual cities and the amount of revenue they received is as follows: Bathgate, $223.10; Canton, $141.97; Cavalier, $5,195.54; Crystal, $564.51; Drayton, $3,086.22; Hamilton, $246.76; Mountain, $449.58; Neche, $1,477.20; Pembina, $2,170.16; St. Thomas, $1,511; Walhalla, $3,572.99

Statewide, a total of $11,318.933.01 was distributed. The department of transportation received $7,130.927.80 while the counties received $2,648,558.95. The incorporated cities received $1,539,446.26 from this distribution.
The monthly distribution is comprised of money from gas and special fuels taxes, and motor vehicle registrations. The money is distributed to the counties and cities based on a formula using population and vehicle registration.
“The money from this distribution may only be used for expenses relating to street and highways,” Gilmore concluded.
