Poecilotoma Dallas, 1851

Poecilotoma Dallas, 1851: 151, 175.

Allportia Schouteden, 1906 (syn. by Horváth, 1909 - see comment below)

Type Species: Poecilotoma: Atelocerus grandicornis Erichson, 1842, by subsequent designation (Kirkaldy, 1909). Allportia: Platycoris scutellatus Van Duzee, 1905 (= Atelocerus grandicornis Erichson, 1842), by monotypy.

Included Species:

callosa Gross
grandicornis (Erichson) [image]
perconfusa Gross
scutellata (Van Duzee)

Tribal Placement: Gross (1975) included this genus in its own Poecilotoma group.  Others have placed it near the Halyini.

Comments: Horváth (1909) effectively synonymized Allportia with Poecilotoma when he placed Platycoris scutellatus Van Duzee, 1905, the type species of Allportia, as a junior synonym of Poecilotoma grandicornis (Erichson, 1842), the type species of Poecilotoma.
