Course Location and Meeting Times for M146 #21482: LADD 114, 11:00-11:50 on MWF, and DOLVE 204, 11:00-11:50 on Tues.

Textbook: Applied Calculus (fourth edition), by Soo Tang Tan, Brooks/Cole Publishing Company, 1998.
Final Examination Time: Final Exam, Tuesday, Dec 16, 2003; 3:00-5:00pm in Minard 119 (or as will be announced)
Mid-Semester Examinations Time: The midterm exams will be held in evenings, allowing more time and space.  
Midterm Exam #1: Thursday, Sep. 18, 2003, 6:30-8:00pm
Midterm Exam #2: Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, 6:30-8:00pm
Midterm Exam #3: Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, 6:30-8:00pm

Makeup Examination Policy: Makeup exams will only be given for university excused absences (see instructor if you are unclear as to what this means).
Remark: Any students with disabilities or other special needs, who need special accommodations in the course, are invited to share these concerns or requests with the instructor.

Assessment

Quizzes: Five in-class quizzes worth 20 points each will be given in class throughout the semester; and Assignments; See schedule.
Midterm Exams: Three midterm examinations worth 100 points each will be given throughout the semester. See schedule.
Final Exam: The final will be a comprehensive examination. It will be worth 200 points.
Summary: To summarize the point distribution:
 
5 in-class quizzes: 100 points
Weakly Assignments: 100 points
3 in-class tests:  300 points
Final examination:  200 points
Total: 700 points
Grading: A=100%-90 %; B=89%-78%; C=77%-63%; D=62%-57%.

Calculators

The students are allowed (and strongly encouraged) to use calculators during the class and during tests and exams. No class time will be allotted to teach the use of a graphing calculator. The students are expected to learn the functions of the calculator using the owner's manual.

Homework

Homework assignments are in the schedule. The students are expected to have completely solved all of the homework problems. Students are most strongly encouraged to solve more than what is assigned.

Attendance

Students are expected to attend all lectures and recitations.
