Burgum Hall Government Application

Applications will be accepted until Sunday, August 30 at 11:59pm

 Elections will be Tuesday, September 1-Thursday, September 3, 2015

Hall Government Position Descriptions:

President:
  • Organize and preside over all Burgum Hall Government and Executive Meetings
  • Have authority to appoint committee heads not previously designated
  • Have authority to delegate duties among other officers
  • Coordinate and participate in all activities and programs of the Burgum Hall Government
  • Attend RHA as a permanent Affiliate Member of RHA
Vice President:
  • Attend all Burgum Hall Government and Executive meetings
  • Preside over Burgum Hall Government and Executive meetings in the absence of the President
  • Serve as an ex-officio member of all committees
  • Assume the responsibilities of the President if the former President is unable to continue office
  • Serve as Chair of the elections committee
  • Facilitate the election process
  • Participate in all Burgum Hall Government activities and programs
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the President
  • Attend RHA as a permanent Affiliate Member of RHA
Administrative Director:
  • Attend all Burgum Hall Government and Executive meetings
  • Keep a record of all Burgum Hall Government meetings and activities, keep an updated list of all members, and handle all correspondence of the Burgum Hall Government
  • Submit a copy of the minutes of each meeting of the BHG to the Executive Officers and Hall Director
  • Provide public notice of all meetings, important actions taken, and other activities of Burgum Hall Government by posting a copy of the minutes on the Burgum Hall Government bulletin board on the 1st floor by the HD office no later than 3 days following the meetings and assume responsibility for upkeep of the Burgum Hall Government bulletin board
  • Record and document all BHG programming events in an organized binder.  This will become a
  • permanent file in the BHG archives
  • Maintain a Burgum Hall Government listserv
  • Participate in all Burgum Hall Government activities and programs
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the President
Diversity Initiative Leader:
  • Attend the fall diversity retreat
  • Attend monthly meeting with all the Diversity Initiatives Leaders (student leaders and RAs) and Assistant Director for Residence Education
  • Meet with Hall Director/Assistant Hall Director and RA Diversity Initiative Leader twice a month
  • Attend Hall Government Executive Board Meetings
  • Report on what they are doing at Hall Government meetings
  • Create monthly activities active and passive based on themes (First semester Res Life would provide some direction with themes.  Theme Ideas: respect, kindness.)
  • Present information that can educate your fellow executive board members
Programming Council Representative
  • Attend all Burgum Hall Government and Executive meetings
  • Attend all Programming Council meetings
  • Report back to BHG on Programming Council events
  • Participate in all events sponsored by the Programming Council including Welcome Week and service projects
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the President
 Campus Service Representative:
  • Attend Services Meetings
  • Report back information from those meetings to the Hall Government
  • Represent their Hall voice to various campus services
  • Represent their Hall on various campus services issues
Floor Representative:
  • Attend all Burgum Hall Government Meetings, and if unable to attend a BHG meeting, find a replacement or it will be an unexcused absence
  • Report at each Burgum Hall Government meeting on pertinent floor information
  • Inform residents of Burgum Hall Government activities and decisions
  • Recognize the birthdays of respective floor residents
  • Assist RA’s on the floor with planning & implementation of programs
  • Help organize cram snacks at the end of each semester

 

Time Obligations:

1.       Executive Board meetings are once a week

2.       Hall Government meetings are once a week

3.       President/Vice President: Residence Hall Association (RHA) Meetings are on Mondays at 7pm

4.       Program Council Meetings are on Wednesdays at 5:15pm

5.       Diversity Initiative Leaders Meetings are on Tuesdays at 7pm (once a month)

6.       Other weekly meeting may be established by President or Advisor
