Sometimes the student demand for housing is greater than the number of spaces we have to offer on campus. As such, we may utilize overflow spaces to accommodate our residents.
Knowing that the best educational environment for students is on campus, the first priority is to create and utilize additional bed spaces to house overflow students. In some halls, study lounges are converted to student rooms. In others, larger double rooms are converted to triples or larger triple rooms are converted to quads. In either case, the overflow spaces are secure (the door can be locked), and they provide most, if not all, the amenities that students would otherwise expect in a residence hall. The larger spaces in these rooms provide ample living room for the students "permanently" assigned to these spaces as well as the "overflow" students joining them until their permanent location becomes available.
Overflow students may check in on Saturday August 19 or Sunday August 20, between 8 AM and 6 PM at the Residence Life office in West Bison Court (1415 14th St N). We are located directly south of the football practice field off of University and 15th Ave.
Please note that all first year students are required to live on campus, so only upperclassmen may cancel a license agreement. However, overflow students who live within driving distance (35 miles or less) or have alternate housing options and prefer to commute until regular space is available, may cancel a license agreement to live on campus by contacting Residence Life Office. You may also contact Residence Life Office for more information about this option.
We are committed to housing all first year students and as many upperclassmen as possible, and we appreciate your support with this process. Please contact the Residence Life Office at 1-800-572-8840 or 701-231-7557 if you have questions regarding your housing arrangement for Fall 2017. We are pleased you are attending NDSU and hope you enjoy the remainder of the summer.
