Service-Learning

Service-Learning at North Dakota State University is a form of course-based, credit-bearing, experiential learning. Service-learning courses engage students in an organized service activity that meets the needs identified by community partners and enhances student learning of specific course objectives. Through intentional reflection, students are able to gain further understanding of course content and an greater sense of personal values and civic responsibility.

At NDSU, service-learning is thought of as a partnership between students, faculty, and community partners. Each member of the partnership needs to be equally as invested and needs needs must be heard. Additionally, the learning that occurs is just as important as the service that is being performed. Students serving in the community work with and learn from those they are serving.

During the 2016-2017 academic year, NDSU partnered with hundreds of community organizations to complete a variety of service-learning projects. This resulted in over 12,757 hours of service to the community.

Faculty Service-Learning Award- The NDSU Service-Learning Advisory Board invites you to identify a current Faculty member, Lecturer or Graduate Assistant based on their commitment to service-learning at NDSU.
