Meet the Providers
A Medical Doctor (MD) is a physician who has received a doctoral degree from a medical school. MDs are able to practice medicine to treat medical conditions including illnesses and injuries.

A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a nurse who has completed additional education and training at an advanced level (typically completing a Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree). In order to practice, they must pass a national certification exam, be involved in a periodic peer review program and clinical outcome evaluations while also adhering to a code of ethical practices. NPs are able to do the following:
- Work independently in medical care facilities and hospitals
- Assess and diagnose medical conditions
- Provide initial treatment
- Order diagnostic testing
- Order treatments
- Prescribe medications and/or drugs
- Perform physical examinations
- Make referrals to a specialist

Sheryll graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of North Dakota and completed her Master of Nurse Practitioner degree at the University of Minnesota. Sheryll brings over 20 years of experience as an NP to the clinic. Her previous work history includes family medicine and primary care. She has worked with child abuse and child neglect programs in Fargo, and has a focus on women's health, diabetes, mental health including eating disorders and orthopedic injuries/disorders. She has been with Student Health Service since 2012.

Shari graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing and a Nurse Practitioner certification from the University of North Dakota. Shari has experience in Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, women's health and mental health. She came to Student Health Service in April 2015.

JoAnna graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from North Dakota State University and completed her Master of Science in Nursing in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Mary. JoAnna has worked in family medicine, women’s health, the walk-in clinic setting, and has extensive experience working with patients with mental health and addiction issues. She has been at Student Health Services since 2011.
