Academic Checklist for Athletic Travel

It is extremely important for you to stay in close communication with your instructors regarding team travel dates. Please make sure to follow the steps listed below to ensure a successful season - both athletically and academically

Beginning of each semester:

  • Your coach will provide you with a letter for your instructors that outlines your travel dates
  • This letter should be hand-delivered to each instructor as soon as possible
  • Take this opportunity to ask your instructor about possible time conflicts

One week before each travel date:

  • Discuss your absence again with each instructor
  • Ask how the instructor would like to handle any missed attendance points, assignments, quizzes or exams
  • Have all work handed in prior to leaving, if at all possible

When you return:

Collect all relevant notes an check in with your instructor to make sure all missed work has been made up

Please note: putting off work until you return from an absence will take time away from the every-day homework and studying that is required by your courses. It is always better to have a strong lead by completing your work BEFORE you leave and avoiding the need to play catch-up!
